BioWare veterans describe Exodus as RPG between Skyrim, Final Fantasy, Dragon Age and Mass Effect

Exodus is a new sci-fi epistvo from developers behind hits such as Mass Effect, Halo, The Last of Us and Baldur’s Gate, with the game playing to combine the best of the two RPGs. As stated in the studio Archetype Entertainment, the game balances between such fantastic worlds as Skyrim and Final Fantasy, as well as the atmosphere of the iconic BioWare games, including Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

At the recent question session and answers, the head of the studio James Olen spoke about the approach to the creation of the protagonist in Exodus. Players will be able to influence the personality of the character, but within certain limits.

The level of personality of the character in role-playing games depends on the type of game. It’s a kind of spectrum.

– Olen

He clarified that at one end of the spectrum are games like Skyrim or MMO, where players can create an avatar of almost anyone. On the other – games like Final Fantasy from Square Enix, where the name, gender, and personality of the character are predetermined.

Olen also cited the example of his own BioWare games.

We had two key franchises: Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Dragon Age provided more opportunities to customize the character, as she was the spiritual heir of Baldur’s Gate, where it was important. But in Mass Effect, the approach was more authoritizing – Shepard had a elaborate personality that the developers asked.

As for the Exodus, the game is more gravitated to the BioWare science fiction format. Archetype Entertainment plans to focus on cinematography, solutions and fully voiced dialogues, which requires a elaborate personality of the protagonist.

We want to offer a lot of dramatic moments that is difficult to do if the character does not have an individual.

– Olen

The Exodus gameplay has not yet been shown, but the developers are gradually revealing the ENT.
