On November 18, a list of games that will compete for the title of “Game of the Year” at the prestigious The Game Awards 2024 ceremony was published. In addition to full-fledged titles, the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree add-on was among the nominees.
In order for DLC to be eligible for the nomination, TGA officials had to change the rules and allow add-ons and remakes to compete with full-fledged games.

This decision angered gamers. According to many users, the add-on for Elden Ring took the place where other worthy games could have been – for example, the remake of Silent Hill 2, Helldivers 2 or Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
However, the biggest blow was made by fans of Cyberpunk 2077, because last year the Phantom Liberty add-on was unable to compete for the title of “Game of the Year” due to rules that are no longer in effect. Where is the justice?
In addition to Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Astro Bot, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Balatro, and Black Myth: Wukong will also compete for the award. The ceremony itself will take place on December 13, 2024, at 03:30 Moscow time.
