It’s been five years since Marvel announced the reboot of Blade as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and… the film hasn’t been shot yet. Fans received a small hint in the scene after the credits in the “Eternal”, but the protagonist performed by Mahershala Ali has not yet appeared on the screen. After the change of several writers and directors, lawyer Ali called the process “the most insane in his professional career.” As a result, Disney removed Blade from the schedule of releases for 2025.
However, Kevin Feige, speaking at D23 in Brazil, presented the upcoming projects and gave updates to the plans of the studio. In an interview for the Brazilian fan site Omelete Feige, Feige assured the skeptics that Blaide’s version of Mahershala Ali is still in development.
We’re totally supporting Blade. We love this character, and we really like the way Mahershala conveys it. And be sure: when we change the direction of the project or look for a place for it in the schedule, we will definitely report it. But I can say that this character will definitely be in the MCU.
Marvel has scheduled three films for the following year: “Captain America: The New World” (February 14), “Half” (May 5) and “Fantastic Four: First Steps” (July 25). In addition, in 2025, several series in the Marvel Universe will be released.
