Samsung launches free cloud mobile gaming platform for its Galaxy devices

Samsung has launched a free mobile gaming platform for its Galaxy devices in North America.

The company has been testing its streaming service since last year. According to tradition of testing, the application had a different name – Game Launcher. Now the application does not hide its connection with the Samsung ecosystem, called Samsung Gaming Hub.

23 games will be available at the start, including popular free hits: Monopoly Go, Candy Crush Saga, Homescape and Honor of Kings.

All games will be available for free, with Samsung’s vice president and head of gaming services, Jon Wu, told GamesIndustry.biz: “Unlike other cloud services, we don’t have content hidden behind paid access. We also don’t have monthly subscriptions to these games through the cloud.”

Games are available through links posted on Galaxy Store, Samsung Gaming Hub lists and promotional materials. The Galaxy Store, which is pre-installed on all Samsung phones and tablets, will become a customer to launch games.

Samsung claims that 50% of players who clicked on mobile cloud advertising or link in the beta then began playing the proposed game.

Wu believes that the absence of the need for downloads that cloud gaming offers will help Samsung “substanceably change how mobile game publishers scale their projects.”

The company has already begun to develop cloud gaming services through its smart TVs, concluding partnerships with Xbox, as well as Boosteroid.

Previously, Samsung experimented with the streaming service PlayGalaxy Link games for PCs and some Galaxy devices, but it was closed before the official launch.
