The Queen of the North will soon try on the image of an armed British tomb robber. According to the latest reports, Sophie Turner, known for the role of Sansa Stark in the series “Game of Thrones”, will play Lara Croft in the upcoming series Tomb Raider from Amazon Prime Video.
The 28-year-old actress participated in the audition for the role along with Lucy Boynton (“Bohemian Rhapsody”), and now everything points to the fact that Turner is close to signing the contract. The script and production of the series was taken by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, so it should be decent.
The series received approval for production in May, against the background of the success of the adaptation of Fallout in the form of a series. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, stressed that the project will preserve the legacy of the cult character. At the same time, Waller-Bridge promises the audience an exciting adventure with a proprietary action and the famous atmosphere of mysterious tombs.
It is not yet known when the shooting will begin, and it is more early to talk about the release date. Given that 2024 is already coming to an end, the release is most likely to be expected no earlier than 2026. Moreover, Amazon plans to link the series with future films and a new video game, creating a full-fledged universe of Tomb Raider.
