Strauss Zelnik: Take-Two wants not to live, but to exceed the expectations of players

Segment about GTA VI

Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two, recently spoke with Conner Mather, and the conversation inevitably touched upon Grand Theft Auto VI.

When asked about public expectations and feedback regarding the new GTA, Zelnick explained that while Take-Two values player input, the company primarily relies on its own creative vision. He noted that gamers’ desires are often shaped by their past experiences, whereas the developers aim to deliver something beyond their imagination.

“The most successful projects are unexpected hits. Everything we do should be new and unique, not imitative. When people talk about existing trends in the market, they’re often referencing something familiar. Our teams focus on innovation—ideas you haven’t even thought of. What you thought was expected turns out to be something bigger, better, more interesting, and more beautiful than you could have imagined.”
