Released in Steam in August 2024, Sins of a Solar Empire 2 (the original release was in 2022) received high ratings of players, keeping a rating of 85% positive reviews. Although the game did not depart much from the original title, its updated graphics and improved mechanics turned out to be a successful development of the idea after years. And with an update of 1.3, the game becomes even better.
The update adds a variety of changes that highlight the scale and chaos of space battles. For example, in places of major battles now remain long-lasting wacks of ships such as Titans, Capital Ships and Star Bases. These remains become a clear reminder of your actions by adding the atmosphere and tactical depth.
In addition, patch 1.3 introduces new “gravitational wells” – dangerous zones that can slow down your ships, reduce fleet maneuverability or reduce antimatter generation. This requires a more cautious approach when planning routes. There are also new types of stars, including white dwarfs, blue giants and, the most impressive, black holes that create unique threats.
The developers also improved the beginning of the parties, making them more dynamic. Now the first hour of the game flows faster, helping to smoothly develop your empire. Additional tutorials have been added for beginners, explaining the key features of the factions, such as trade, the unity of the Advents and the resonance of the Vasari fases.
The update is available now. In addition to the new mechanics, it also corrected the muds, the balance has been improved, the AI of enemies has been updated and the textures of the ships have been updated.
In 2025, players will receive additional free features: the new Adventorum Minor Faction, more types of artifacts, the planet population accounting system and its impact on the gameplay. Changes are also planned in the gas giants, the addition of new types of moons, fractional planets and neutron stars.
